What is Zoom Teeth Whitening?

We ALL deserve a bright, confident smile!

Taking care of your teeth is much more than maintaining a beautiful smile. Dental health is directly related to an individual’s overall health and well-being, and neglecting it may lead to severe health conditions. One such health consequence is tooth discolouration. It is a change in the colour of your teeth. This colour change also causes white or dark spots all over the teeth, bad breath, and other hygiene issues. Tooth discolouration may be caused due to intrinsic or extrinsic factors or simply due to aging. These may commonly include consuming drinks like coffee, tea, and wines, smoking or chewing tobacco, and poor dental hygiene, to name a few.

Zoom teeth whitening is one of the most promising methods of teeth whitening. Started in 1989 by Dr Bill Dorfman, it became the leading professional whitening product in no time. With an ever-high demand for cosmetic procedures and a desire to have confident attire, whitening has become the choice of millions around the globe today.

Zoom teeth whitening- All you have to know about it

Zoom teeth whitening is a treatment that removes stubborn teeth stains resulting in an everlasting brightness in your smile. It’s a modern in-office and at-home procedure and has the edge over traditional whitening methods because of its time efficiency and high effectiveness. It roughly takes an hour to undergo the process on a dentist’s chair, and your teeth are pearly white.

The treatment involves the use of a whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide, along with an advanced blue LED light, to accelerate the gel to deliver effective and instant results. This peroxide gel is safer and less prone to the infamous tooth sensitivity and all kinds of side effects present in other dental whitening products. This combination of light and gel gently penetrates your teeth, breaking up the stains and discolouration.

The treatment finishes in one sitting at the clinic, but within a treatment, you will have three sessions. A session is where the gel is applied and exposed to the zoom light for activation. Each session is 15 minutes long, and you may need between 2 to 3 sessions. After a session of 15 minutes, your doctor will re-apply the gel and expose it to zoom light again.

Stepwise Procedure for  Zoom Whitening Treatment:

Step 1: The dentist will take an impression of your teeth in order to create a custom-fitted mouthpiece.

Step 2: You will then need to come back for a second appointment, during which the dentist will apply a bleaching gel to your teeth and place you in a special light.

Step 3: The light will activate the bleaching gel and help to remove any deep-set stains.

Step 4: After the treatment is complete, the dentist will inspect your teeth and make any necessary adjustments.

Post-care steps and instructions:

The most important aspect of treatment is aftercare. Once we are done with the procedure, a gel is applied to the teeth to decrease sensitivity. At discharge, your dentist provides you with instructions to care for your teeth whitening and to maintain the results:

  • Follow oral hygiene routine by flossing and brushing.
  • Avoid beverages and food items that cause discolouration.
  • Quit cigarette smoking.

Zoom whitening is not permanent but may last from a few months to 2 years, depending on the aftercare.

Zoom Whitening at home:

You can apply the take-home whitening kits yourself. These include customised trays to be used according to your ease and feasibility. This can give noticeable results in two weeks.

All you need to do is:

  • Place a teardrop size of whitening gel on every impression on your trays.
  • Gently adjust the trays over your teeth.
  • Wear them for the prescribed time
  • Wash your trays thoroughly with cold water.
  • Brush your teeth regularly to enjoy a brighter smile.

Every take-home kit is designed with a unique mix of components that helps to protect your teeth and lessen sensitivity. Just one more thing to smile about!
